AUDIENCE WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: NORMS FOR THE NATURALISATION OF IMMIGRANTS

Vatican City, 13 June 2014 (VIS) – This morning in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, Pope Francis received in audience the president of the Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina Sanchez, who subsequently met with Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, accompanied by Archbishop Dominic Mamberti, secretary for Relations with States.

During the cordial discussions, satisfaction was expressed for the good relations between the Dominican Republic and the Holy See, and emphasis was placed on the valuable social contribution the Church offers to the country, especially in the sectors of education, healthcare and charity.

The conversation then turned to various matters of national and regional interest, in particular the recent provisions intended to facilitate the process of naturalisation of immigrants in the Country.

DECREES OF THE CONGREGATION FOR THE CAUSES OF SAINTS

Vatican City, 13 June 2014 (VIS) – Yesterday afternoon the Holy Father received in audience Cardinal Angelo Amato S.D.B., prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. During the audience he authorised the promulgation of decrees concerning the following causes:

MIRACLES

- Venerable Servant of God Louis-Edouard Cestac, French diocesan priest, founder of the Servants of Mary (1801-1868).

- Venerable Servant of God Irene Stefani (nee Aurelia Giacomina Mercedes), Italian professed nun of the Consolata Missionary Sisters (1891-1930).

HEROIC VIRTUES

- Servant of God Luigi Savare, Italian diocesan priest (1878-1949).

- Servant of God Eugenio Reffo, Italian professed priest and co-founder of the Congregation of St. Joseph (1843-1925).

- Servant of God Mother Magdalen of the Sacred Heart (nee Frances Margaret Taylor), foundress of the Poor Servants of the Mother of God (1832-1900).

- Servant of God Maria Giuseppa Scandola, Italian professed nun of the Comboni Missionary Sisters (1849-1903).

- Servant of God Itala Mela, laywoman and Benedictine Oblate of the Monastery of St. Paul Outside-the-Walls (1904-1957).

- Servant of God Uberto Mori, Italian layperson and father (1926-1989).

- Delia Cardenas Christie, ambassador of Panama, on her farewell visit.

Vatican City, 13 June 2014 (VIS) – The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Multan, Pakistan, presented by bishop Andrew Francis, in accordance with canon 401 para. 2 of the Code of Canon Law, and appointed Rev. Benny Travas of the clergy of Karachi as apostolic administrator “sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis” of the same diocese.
